Vintage Books

I am in love with vintage books.  I love them in a grouping, in a pile, standing up, laying down, in a get the picture.  I also love the book bundles that are showing up everywhere.  It's interesting to see all the beautiful ways people come up with decorating and displaying them.

I am always on the lookout for vintage books when I thrift.  I like to use the papers for crafting or to use them in a few vignettes around my home.

This gorgeous tattered and yellowed book is a French - Hungarian translation dictionary.  To be honest, I purchased it for the color.  It's a faded red/ it looks gorgeous with pink and cream accents.   A few pages are missing and one of them is the page giving the year it was printed so I have no clue how old this treasure is.  The pages are very yellow and thin like onion skin.

I wrapped it in sheer ribbon and added a tiny pink French postcard tag.  The tag is tied with a paper rose and some yellowed and crinkled seam binding.  I think it looks like a little package.  I'd like to receive it!

Another thrift store find.  I love the color of this one.  A Field Guide to Birds has been tied with more vintage seam binding and little bird tag.

Again, I think this one looks like a decorated present/package.

I am joining up today with:

These are beautifully done - funny how things come back around - these were also popular in the late 80s and early 90s. I love the way you've added the tags. Happy Pink Saturday to you.

What a lovely idea for a gift to a special friend. I am always wandering our little Goodwill store and there sit shelves of old books which I just walk by. Now I will stop and LOOK! You have decorated then so beautifully with the little creative tags and ribbons. I hope you do not mind if I grab your idea. If ever I post one, I will certainly link it back to this entry on your blog. Hugs. Genie

Hi Miss Roselle,
I am always intrigued by the creations folks come up with, and the vintage books is just another lovely way to display things. I haven't gotten into that just yet because I've been focusing on other things but I've always loved books, so one of these days, you will probably see a stack posted on my blog too. Yours are wonderful; love your tags! Thanks for your visit and your prayers for my little angel. Have a lovely weekend and Happy Pinks!
